Wellness Counseling
Health and wellness counseling is offered for individuals, families or groups.
Sometimes the true obstacles are not about setting the “right” wellness plan or learning new skills. “I know what to do, I just can’t do it” is a common experience for many people struggling to move towards their health related goals or apply lifestyle changes a healthcare provider had recommended.
Selection and integration of clinical counseling modalities depend on each person's needs, capacities and hopes. Modalities include trauma informed somatic interventions, EMDR, ACT, IFS, ERP, mindfulness, accelerated reprocessing protocols for chronic disease and pain distress, MI and solution focused therapy.
The selected therapeutic modalities are offered within a relational/culturally attuned framework and are organically informed by the insights gained throughout more than 15 years of whole person health coaching and somatic practices education for professionals and families.
The health focused counseling journey aims at new levels of real aliveness that chronic symptoms may have disconnected you from and at overcoming barriers to optimal quality of life including:
Biopsychosocial aspects of physical pain
Unhelpful eating habits
Complicated relationship with food
Hidden impacts of trauma on wellness and self care
Anxiety around body image
Impact of sociocultural factors
Complicated relationship with the body
Information overload and lack of clarity around what works for you versus what doesn’t
Medical Trauma
Sustaining progress
Personalized new skills for sustainable resilience and self care can be practiced throughout the counseling journey to reinforce helpful habits and maximize chances of sustaining the new lifestyle that supports your health goals.
Therapy intensives with 2-6 days of engagement can be offered to target a specific big challenge. Weekly engagement would be preferred when it's helpful to cultivate outcomes and build sustainability more gradually.
